ComCoast - Combined functions in the coastal zone - is an European Interreg IIIB project with partners in The Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Belgium and the UK. ComCoast develops and demonstrates innovative strategies for future flood risk management and coastal defence management in the southern North Sea region. ComCoast aims to stimulate wider functions along the coast in a more gradual transition from sea to land. The ComCoast concept is a multifunctional flood management and coastal defence strategy in a wide coastal zone. This provides prosperous multifunctional possibilities to develop the coastal area with respect to spatial planning, providing benefits for society and environment. Moreover, the concept will safely protect the coast anticipating on the consequences of the expected climate change and socio-economic developments. |
